Wrong - the longest word in the english dictionary is Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Its the name of a special form of silicosis caused by ultra-microscopic particles of silica volcanic dust. =)

@meee. Sorry your wrong. Firstly its 189,819 letters long and its not classed as a word because its “Technical, not in dictionary and is disputed whether it is a word”. The word itself describes a protine by describing each part of the chemical formula.

Cummon guys lets face it - wikipedia holds the answers to life the universe and everything!
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_word_in_English
And under which it says that Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is the longest word in a major dictionary.
    Its pronounced “you-min-ultra-micro-scopic-silly-co-volcano-con-i-o-sis”

Technically the longest word they could put in the dictionary would be the chemical name for human DNA. Its supposed to have over a billion letters
