He killing himself was related to the picture, not entirely because there were others. But part of his death note says that he is depressed after taking the pictures ofr death, starving and wounded kids, and so on.

he wasn’t allowed to touch the kid, or do anything. he could only take the picture.
Going by that notion, you wouldnt just try to save one youd try to save them all in turn knowing its impossible, you cant change some places for how they are. He faced it and was unable to handle it for what it was.
One person cant truely change the entire world, thats impossible. Saving one child from death wont save the hundred others who would die that same day. That makes my first statement more true. Again if you tried to save that one, you would want to save them all which is impossible.
