this was an infamous Pulitzer prize winning photograph taken by Kevin Carter, and he actually commited suicide 16 MONTHS after taking it.

“I am depressed … without phone … money for rent … money for child support … money for debts … money!!! … I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain … of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners…I have gone to join Ken [Oosterbroek] if I am that lucky.”

the boy was actually right next to a facility to help him so the facebook group implying that the photographer left him to die is wrong and quite cruel.

I believe this is the photograph that the concept of “Belial” came from in the book House of Leaves.

That poor child… He looks close to death, so why would there be ‘ethics’ against helping save a life?

Wow, you are so ignorant. Yes, the photographer is to blame. If you knew the story, you would know that YES the poor child was near rescue, but the child wasn’t able to go on. Yet the photographer had the choice to pick up the child and drive it the rest of the way. He committed suicide because he couldn’t live with the fact that he didn’t.

I had to learn about this picture in my Ethics Class. The photographer did in fact help the kid. He was in Darfur learning about the local life, and saw this as a deeply moving picture so he snapped the photo. He then however scared the bird off and took the child to a nearby hospital.

Is that child saved? Is she alive now? Is she happy now? Is she can smile?

To Mary, because people are just dicks that created the rule saying you cant help a person that may be wounded or something because they are fear of an disease… What completely inconsiderate people there are these days. I WILL PRAY FOR KEVIN CARTER AND THAT LITTLLE GIRL.

Some asshole on Facebook put this up and made it a “fan page” and making you complete his advertised surveys and notify your friends so he can profit off of this image. I believe the image is still copyrighted, too.. and this idiot probably does not own the copyright on it.

However, there are and have been MILLIONS of cases such as this. If you want to end starvation and genocide you must first advocated Individual Rights and abolish tyrannical governments. And definitely do not deal with worthless organizations like the UN where they try to put you and a barbarian as “equals”.

I hope this child died very shortly after this photograph. There was no hope for her in such a wretched and evil nation where you have no rights. Live free or die.

You people are sick! If that child was one of your siblings or you knew them you’d be extremely depressed. What the hell has this world come to if people post stuff like “I wonder what that boy is drawing on the ground? Maybe that vulture?”, “vultures need to eat to, you know.” Those comments sicken me more than this very photograph. It’s people with mentalities like yourselves that result in scenes such as this.
