    Unfortunately Dubai’s entire economy is based off of building massive buildings that make no revenue. It’s bound to crash sometime.

    Are you kidding me… The Governments is just about bankrupt… they needed a loan from Abu Dhabi to finish building the Burj Dubai! Not to mention the entire economy is based on property sales, which are now falling drastically, as is tourism. There isn’t any oil left either!

    And besides… what’s the point of this kind of development when the foreign workers who make it all happen are treated like dirt? I’d like to see the people of Dubai build those skyscrapers themselves!

    I’d say this would be a more accurate picture.

    Okay, that’s a stretch. But seriously, they’re not gonna hold back the desert forever.

    There are so many rich people there, but I don’t think they’ll always build crazy structures all the time.

    @Sam

    hahah not really.
    the world ”ends” every year. scientists have predicted that we will go out of orbit in december 2012. which we do EVERY YEAR. it’s just htat this year, (and 12 years ago, in 2000) there is a meteor or comet or something, so everyone thinks were gonna hit it, but we aren;t gonna go out of orbit enough to comem close ot that.

    The mayans calendar didn’t predict the end. It just stopped. The history channel just freaked everyone out by saying the Mayans predicted this.

    and who cares about the mayans, anyway?

    I care about the Mayans. I don’t care about the History Channel though =P.

    But yes, the world is not going to end. To those of you who think it will, you are all gullible idiots (no offense).

    Uhh… What about the massive amounts of oil they sell to everybody? The building projects are a side effect of having more money than they know what to do with.

    Dubai will be back to what it was in 1950…desert, especially as it’s oil would have run out, and tourism would be a thing of the past. By the way, that picture looks like it could be in 2010.

    @SystematicChaos
    I was going to post something similar but I’ll just agree with you instead; I think that’s exactly what it’ll look like. Dubai is a house built on sand. Quite literally.
