Yes, they are not great jokes but as long as he was joking, there is nothing wrong with it. Yes, it may make people uncomfortable but those people need to just not read them. I hate rape jokes but people still make them. One of my friends hates gay jokes but people still make them. We just ask our friends not to make them and ignore them if we see them. We are mature enough not to let it bug us though because people are only joking.
