“Researchers in the area of sexual health says that it goes back to when men were babies breastfeeding. The male is attracted to breasts since they were little, as breasts=food, which is the main thing babies want.”

There are two things wrong about this, which leads me to believe that these “researchers” are simply laymen trying to sounds intelligent by writing balderdash.

First of all, about 70% of women breastfed their children in 2003. This was the highest ever recorded in the United States. While that might sound high, remember that 30% did not breastfeed their children. Additionally, only 36% and then 17% continue to breastfeed after 6 months and 12 months, respectively. Remember that this includes female babies too, so the numbers are even lower for just males (see my second point).

This really isn’t enough exposure to develop some kind of attraction towards breasts, and actually should develop a dependence instead of an attraction (which does not happen, as mothers stop breastfeeding when the child is old enough to feed on their own).

Second, what about female babies? Males aren’t the only ones that breastfeed, so why don’t (most) women develop a sexual attraction to breasts, too?

Men in many cultures do not regard breasts in such a manner as American men, though they still can be a secondary sexual feature. It’s mostly the Western exaggerations that are the reason.

This makes no sense. Not seeing breasts every day would have a completely adverse effect.

“Then you have commercialism. Now you know how so many businesses use sex to sell.”

Hyperbolizing can have an effect on the way many things are viewed, but remember that women are also exposed to it, and that some men aren’t, too.

The actual explanation isn’t any of these. Going right on par with Occam’s razor, the real answer is quite simple: instinct. Breasts show that the female has high levels of estrogen, and is therefore fertile (i.e. capable of reproduction). It’s basic sexual instinct. This also makes them aesthetically pleasing to most men; a fact that most advertising companies can and do take advantage of it.

Good point Peter. What they should have said is “have a fascination with boobs.” While straight girls and gay guys don’t find boobs sexy, most of the ones I know find them fascinating and at least find them to be awesome pillows.

Oh and also if women hate boobs its because they have to deal with how annoying they can be.

even if your in a relationship and you see naked boobs everyday it doesnt make it any less good.

There is however a historical fact as to why modern day men loves boobs;

Because Prehistoric men, loved boobs.

This was all believable up until the last line, which makes the whole thing just seem like post-feministic propaganda.

According to Desmond Morris (I think), yes, it has to do with sexual attraction – other female primates’ breasts supposedly swell up around ovulation as a sign that she would be more receptive, thus attracting males. The human female’s breasts evolved to be always swollen to keep the guy around and guessing because the human infant is more helpless and remains so for a longer time. I may have forgotten some details, but that’s the gist of the explanation.

My friends and I don’t talk about boobs.
According to my browsing history, I do see boobs every day.
I don’t see sexy ads, I don’t watch tv or read magazines.

I like boobs.

Guys are attracted to boobs because boobs are awesome. This “list” is utter bullcrap.

I’ve heard that boobs are aesthetically pleasing, and that some University somewhere researched it. I can’t determine the validity of that though.

that is so crap…men love boobs because they dont have it..same goes to “other” part and gender.

Everytime I ask a guy- “why do guys like boobs?” they either deny it, or tell me to go ask a guy that does- WTH is up with that?

So people that are not breastfed as babies will be gay?

it has nothing to do with how you grew up really. isn’t it natural instinct? I mean a presume male cows like female cows, but we have evolved to not just be with a girl for sex ( well some of us) like some animals, and be with them for love. Arguably animals don’t go with a female because of this.
Also, gays and lesbians are not attracted to females because they are attracted to 1) the way the same sex behaves, or 2) the physical elements.
And someone said something about they think they mean naked breasts, well, women don’t stare at they’re breasts all day, whether naked or not. I mean we may glance at them, but chances are most men so breasts in porn more often than women look at them on themselves.
All of this is in my experience BTW, you might have different opinions/experience.
