dude, don’t be les, it’s based on statistics, not predetermined cultural assumptions, and besides, this claim isn’t judging anyone, just exposing one possible scientific conclusion.

Prejudiced? Hardly. Ring finger length has been linked to testosterone levels in the past, and testosterone levels could have a connection to sexuality. I’ve not heard about the whorl thing before but if it’s based on evidence then it’s not prejudiced at all.

The ring finger length has statistical significance, so it does link to being more likely to be gay. However, this isn’t a prejudicial thing. If anything, this should be a fact that the homosexual community takes as a positive. It might be some proof toward homosexuality being a genetic thing and not a choice, and if true, that would mean that anti-homosexual legislation is evil.

The finger-length ratio is hardly indicative of anything in men, it’s more telling in women. As happy as I would be to say “I told you so” if it was proven that homosexuality is something you’re born with, it would also mean people would start claiming that it’s something that can be “fixed” by genetic engineering or other means. So, really, I’d prefer that the mystery is never solved.

What? What difference does it make? They can’t have ‘tested’ every gay and straight person for these traits anyway. And why does anyone really need to do research into why people are gay? It’s perfectly fine. My uncle’s gay and I love him to bits, and I can’t understand why people judge people just because of who they choose to love.

@Anon #10, who cares if it can be “fixed” or not? Look at how happy transvestites are because the gender they were born with can be “fixed”, to some extent. I know some people who are gay and, wish they weren’t. I know people who were straight and, wish they weren’t.

Actually, sometime last year the news said “gay” and “lesbian” where causes of some kind of hormone or something in your body.
How men are attracted to women as a hetrosexual is caused by something the the mind, but if their gay, their mother’s attraction genes have been the main ones while they developed in their mother’s stomach.

I think things like this are awesome. So many homophobs say that people “choose” to be gay and aren’t born that way. Things like this prove that being gay isn’t a choice, it’s just something that many humans (and many species of animals) are born as. Gay people should be proud of studies like this.

Well I have both traits and I am gay, and for anyone hating on them there just testing to TRY and figure something out damn, lets not burn them like witches okay? they want to learn because it will help us understand genetics and not only that but some people (believe it or not) really don’t want to be gay, surprise? so not only could we figure out WHY it happens but we could figure out how to prevent or even reverse it. I’m happy with who I am, but I’m not gonna force other people to be what they don’t want to be, plus this can totally help me find guys (in case my gaydar is a bit unsure)
