QUESTION
A Tennessee man was in court to be sentenced for theft.
The judge told the man, “You may make a statement. If it is true, I’ll sentence you to five years in prison. If it is false, I’ll sentence you to ten years in prison.”
After the man made his statement, the judge decided to let him go free. What did the man say?
ANSWER
He said, “You’ll sentence me to ten years in prison.” If it was true, then the judge would have to make it false by sentencing him to five years. If it was false, then he would have to give him ten years, which would make it true. Rather than contradict his own word, the judge set the man free.

Wtf does this have to do with engineers? =S
my friend told me this one, and i got it right
Took me about 1 minute
Woooah thats a good one!
))
I like it! Oops that sounds sarcastic, I seriously do think its good!
wouldn’t setting him free still make the statement false? so in the end the judge is still contradicting his own words. and if he’s not, he could’ve sentenced the man to 15 years in prison. if sentencing 0 years works, why can’t 15?
This riddle is very similar to this one, which I found in a MENSA book (this isn’t the exact riddle, sorry):
A knight was captured by the enemy. The enemy told the knight: “You can say one line. If you tell the truth, you will be hanged. If you lie, you will be shot.” The enemy listened to the knight’s line and set him free. What was the line?
Answer: “I will be shot.”
how about he said that he was innocent . surely the jury wouldn’t allow the judge to condemn an innocent man
Very Lewis Carroll
i dont get it somebdy explain to me please !
